It was rampant in the download charts for PS4 following launch, going on to snag 1.5 million players within 24 hours and 200,000 concurrent players at one point.

The game launched into “Open Beta” on May 22nd, which just makes this feat more impressive.

Judging from the downloads of H1Z1 on PS4, it’s going to keep peaking and peaking with 10 million players having tried out the battle royale since its launch, Daybreak Games has announced. When you add in the fact that you can travel quickly in vehicles, it’s rare to feel isolated. Quiet moments in H1Z1 are few and far between. H1Z1 is fast-paced, with matches lasting around 15 minutes, and features a streamlined weapon system that keeps the pace and action moving. Players parachute down to a continuously shrinking map with the goal of being the last player standing. Those who have played PUBG or Fortnite will be familiar with the concept. H1Z1 left early access on PC in February and quickly went free-to-play the next month. The developers quickly added King of the Kill, a battle royale mode, and soon separated the two experiences, renaming King of the Kill as H1Z1, and the original survival game as Just Survive. It launched in 2015 on Steam as a zombie survival game based off of DayZ, an ARMA 2 mod. If you’re unfamiliar with H1Z1, it’s the game that sparked the battle royale craze.
